One of the hottest products on the market today is HMB, a byproduct of BCAA’s shown to increase muscle mass, VO2 max and endurance while also potentially decreasing body fat. HMB (Calcium B-Hydroxy B-Methylbutyrate Monohydrate) is a natural metabolite that is created by the breakdown of the amino acid Leucine. Interestingly enough our bodies already receive a small dose of HMB naturally through the foods we eat but these amounts are insufficient for mass gaining hence the need for a supplement. HMB reduces the recovery time our muscle tissues need after they have been broken down by intense training. Bodybuilders are constantly tearing up their muscles so they can re-grow them and that process typically involves a lot of recovery time between gains. HMB provides the edge by protecting proteins and muscle fibers to reduce the amount of negative damage and allow for faster rebuilding. All of this equates to less soreness and fatigue to keep you cranking longer and harder.

Is it safe? Absolutely! Only creatine has been studied more than HMB. Over the past fifteen years a great many University and peer-review studies as well as clinical human trials have been completed and their results published. The overwhelming conclusion is that HMB is highly beneficial for muscle growth and improved performance with extremely minimal side effect.
