Recent medical studies show that higher levels of Vitamin D than previously thought are required for maintaining proper health. Therefore, the recommended daily amounts of Vitamin D have been raised. Research suggests that Vitamin D plays a role in providing protection from osteoporosis, several autoimmune disorders, hypertension (high blood pressure), and even cancers. NOW Vitamin D-3 Softgels supply this key vitamin which aids in absorption of calcium and phosphorus for strong teeth, bones and healthy muscle tissue. Each high potency NOW Vitamin D-3 Softgel provides Vitamin D-3 (as Cholecalciferol) in the liquid form most easily absorbed by the body.

In children deficiency of Vitamin D causes rickets possibly resulting in skeletal deformity. In adults the deficiency may lead to osteomalacia, weakening both muscles and bones. The elderly, overweight, persons with intestinal, kidney, liver, pancreatic disease, hyper-parathyroid’s, surgical removal of the stomach, infants breastfed only, and individuals who have little exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun, are at risk for Vitamin D deficiency.
